ECOCRETE™ Hooked End Steel Fiber

High-toughness reinforcement for crack control, flexural strength and fatigue life.

What is Hooked End Steel Fiber?

Hooked End Steel Fiber is the most widely used steel fiber type. Its hooked tips provide superior pull-out resistance and bond to cement paste, enabling higher toughness and fatigue resistance at practical dosages. Compared with secondary rebar mesh, fiber dosing is fast, compatible with pump/laser screed construction, and can shorten schedules and reduce overall placement cost.

ECOCRETE™ Hooked End Steel Fiber is cut from high-strength steel wire; the mid-section is straight and both ends are bent into hooks for strong mechanical anchorage. It disperses evenly in concrete, controls crack width, and lifts post-crack load capacity—ideal for industrial floors, bridge decks, pavements, tunnels, precast and repairs.

Key Benefits of Hooked End Steel Fiber

  1. Crack Control & Tightness — Bridges plastic/drying shrinkage and service cracks; reduces crack width/density for improved durability.
  2. Toughness & Impact/Fatigue — High pull-out resistance from hooked tips raises post-crack load capacity, impact and fatigue life.
  3. Strong Bonding — Clean, rough steel surface grips cement paste securely.
  4. Good Dispersion & Pumpability — Designed to dose and disperse uniformly without balling; compatible with large-area, laser-screeded floors.
  5. Construction Efficiency — In many crack-control specs, can reduce or replace secondary mesh; simpler workflow and shorter schedule.

Applications of Hooked End Steel Fiber

  1. Building & Precast: housing slabs, precast piles, frame nodes, roof waterproof layers, underground waterproof structures.
  2. Industrial Floors: cut-joint, jointless and seamless floors; pile-supported floors; garage leveling layers; composite deck slabs; rafts; plant roads and pavements.
  3. Pipes: centrifugal, vibration and extruded pipes; pump pipes; steel-lined steel-fiber pressure pipes.
  4. Highways & Bridges: box arches, continuous box girders, bridge decks/overlays; cold-region/airport pavements.
  5. Rail: prestressed mono-block/twin-block sleepers.
  6. Water & Hydropower: abrasion/erosion zones, gates/sluices, spillways, dam face slabs.
  7. Ports & Marine: steel pipe-pile anti-corrosion layers, quay facilities, subsea concrete.
  8. Other: heavy-duty factory/warehouse floors, silos, repair & strengthening, manhole covers, trench grates, underground cable/pipe works.

How to Use & Recommended Dosage

  • General slabs / industrial floors: 20–40 kg/m³ (optimize for joint spacing, wheel loads and curl control).
  • Heavy-duty pavements / bridge decks / precast: 30–60 kg/m³ depending on design targets.
  • Shotcrete / repairs: 25–45 kg/m³ (verify pumpability with a trial panel).
  • UHPC / high-performance elements: 1.0–2.0% by volume (engineering design required).

Mixing sequence (cementitious): Aggregates → Hooked End Steel Fiber (dose gradually) → cement → water + admixtures → mix to full dispersion; use superplasticizer to maintain slump/flow.
Design note: Fiber does not replace primary reinforcement where required; follow the structural engineer’s design and codes.

Packaging & Logistics

  • Packs: 25 kg cartons or composite paper bags.
  • Palletization: 1.5–2.0 t per pallet (typical).
  • 40′ HQ Load: ≈ 24 t (12 pallets × 2 t).
  • Lead Time: 5–10 days (depending on order mix).

FAQs — Hooked End Steel Fiber

A: Hooked tips increase mechanical anchorage and pull-out resistance, delivering higher post-crack toughness and fatigue performance at similar dosages.

A: In many crack-control applications it can reduce or replace secondary mesh—subject to engineering design. Primary load-bearing reinforcement must follow code.

A: Expect some slump reduction. Use gradual dosing and superplasticizer to maintain workability; finishing remains compatible with screeds/laser screeds.

A: 25–35 mm for thin toppings/repairs; 50–60 mm for industrial floors and bridge decks needing higher residual strength (see model table above).

A: Fiber dosing shortens rebar handling and allows continuous casting, often reducing overall schedule and cost.
