ECOCRETE™ UHMWPE Fiber

Ultra-high strength, ultra-tough reinforcement for UHPC and demanding concrete.

What is UHMWPE Fiber?

UHMWPE Fiber is a linear polyethylene with molecular weight >1.5 million. It is widely recognized for extreme tensile strength and toughness—up to 15× stronger than steel by weight—while remaining exceptionally light and chemically inert. In UHPC, UHMWPE Fiber improves crack control, post-crack load capacity and durability under harsh exposure.

ECOCRETE™ UHMWPE Fiber (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) delivers exceptional strength-to-weight performance and outstanding chemical resistance. Designed for UHPC and high-demand concrete, it bridges cracks, boosts toughness, and enhances long-term durability—without corrosion or water absorption.

Key Benefits of UHMWPE Fiber

  1. Extreme Strength & Toughness – very high tensile strength and elastic modulus deliver robust crack bridging and energy absorption.
  2. Superior Durability – excellent resistance to chemicals, salts, and alkali; no corrosion, no water uptake.
  3. Lightweight Efficiency – high performance at low density (0.95 g/cm³) reduces weight without sacrificing strength.
  4. High Performance in UHPC – increases tensile/compressive strength, improves post-crack ductility and fatigue resistance.
  5. Stable in Harsh Environments – maintains properties in marine, de-icing salt, and wastewater exposure.

Applications of UHMWPE Fiber

  1. UHPC Structures: bridge panels, façade elements, anchor blocks, protective barriers
  2. Tunnels & Mining: shotcrete linings, precast segments requiring high ductility
  3. Water & Municipal: tanks, channels, anti-seepage and anti-erosion structures
  4. Industrial & Marine: corrosive or high-impact environments where steel fibers may corrode
  5. Precast & Modular: thin-wall components needing high tensile capacity and crack control

How to Use & Recommended Dosage

  • Design Guidance: Follow your UHPC mix design and project spec. Conduct trial mixes to optimize workability and mechanical targets.
  • Typical Ranges (indicative): 0.5–2.0% by volume depending on target toughness/ductility, element geometry and fiber length. Adjust superplasticizer and mixing time for uniform dispersion.
  • Mixing Order: Aggregates → part of mixing water + admixtures → add UHMWPE Fiber slowly with remaining water → add binder → mix to full dispersion; avoid fiber clumping.
  • Notes: Shorter fibers (12–18 mm) favor surface crack control and finish; longer fibers (24–30 mm) increase post-crack toughness.

Packaging & Logistics
