Qian’an–Caofeidian Expressway

Subheading: Pavements & bridge decks reinforced with Ecocrete™ PP Monofilament Fiber

Elevated viaduct crossing rural fields along the expressway corridor

Challenges & Solution

Fast Paving, Heavy Axle Loads, Coastal Climate — Managed

Hot/windy placements: PP monofilaments create a 3D network that limits plastic shrinkage, reducing map cracking on fast-track paving days.

Bridge deck & joint durability: Added post-crack toughness protects edges around dowels, expansion joints, drains, and anchors—cutting spalls and patching.

High traffic abrasion: Improved impact/abrasion resistance helps slabs withstand toll-plaza braking zones and ramp curvature wear.

Coastal exposure: Polypropylene is non-corrosive and alkali/chemical resistant, supporting long-term performance near marine environments.

Tighter Cracks, Cleaner Joints, Lower Life-Cycle Repairs

Paving teams reported reduced plastic cracking on hot pours, crisper joint edges, and fewer small-area repairs at joint/dowel locations and parapet details. Fiber-modified mixes support schedule reliability and lower maintenance across high-load highway sections.

Project Overview

Crack-Resistant Concrete for Heavy-Duty Highway Structures

The Qian-Cao Expressway links industrial hubs and coastal ports with long viaducts, interchanges, and toll-plaza pavements. To limit plastic-shrinkage and improve surface integrity in mainline pavement, bridge decks, parapets, and approach slabs, contractors adopted Ecocrete™ Polypropylene Monofilament Fiber. The uniformly dispersed micro-fibers help arrest micro-cracks at initiation, protect edges at joints and dowels, and enhance abrasion/impact resistance under constant traffic loads.
